Last Week's Finishes Continued

Two of these three tops were donated by other quilters and I have just finished off the quilting and binding so they are now ready to donate. The last photo shows a quilt I put together from donated strings in country colours. I found some brown fabric with red flowers which teamed well with the strings and made alternate blocks to make the quilt larger. I love to make something useful from scraps that others are discarding. It will bring joy to three people- the person who donated the scraps who is happy not to have them cluttering up the sewing room, the person who receives the quilt, and also for me beaucse I'm happy to be able to play with scraps and fabric. All round it's a win-win situation LOL.
I'm also going to add my address details to the blog again as requested by some of my followers. Once again a very grateful thank you to all my blog followers for their ongoing support. I have more photos to show of this week's finished quilts but will do that in the next post.

Pink Quilts Finished

Three more pink tops I've quilted for the next shipment. The first two were donated and the last one was made from donated fabric cut into 6" squares. They're all packed and ready for the next shipment.

Quilts ready to Ship

I received more utility quilts from Glady and her quilting group in Dimboola (Vic) (shown in the last photo) and these will all join my next shipments which are going to East Timor and Pakistan. The news reports say that 6 million people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan and they are in urgent need of help. These are not nearly enough to help all who are in need but will help a few people and hopefully make their lives a little better.
The other quilt of simple squares in red and yellow are the simple utility quilt tops that a friend has been putting together for me and they will be ideal for the next shipment. I've also been finishing off more donated tops as shown here. I have more to bind today and will update with more photos soon.

More Beautiful Donations

While we were away the Myall Quilting group, in NSW, made and sent me these fabulous quilts to be donated to the people of Kinglake who have been affected by the bush fires. They will bring so much comfort to their recipients and will wrap them in a warm hug.
I have some here from other quilters too and will take them to Kinglake when they are ready to receive them. Many are still in the process of rebuilding and will love to have them to decorate their new homes.
I am also working hard on quilting some of the many utility quilt tops I have on hand and these will be going to Pakistan as over 2 million people have been affected by devastating floods there.
I still have bindings to do on some and will post photos soon.

Progress Of Sorts

We're still on the road and are in Western Australia at Geraldton after traveling through the Kimberley and the Pilbara. Tomorrow we're off to Kalgoorlie and then will probably head for home. Although we're having a a great time we are getting tired from all the rough roads and bush camping and to be honest I'm missing my quilting. LOL. Luckily my DH is also happy to go home and rest up before our next trip in mid September.
As we've been camping on the side of the road so much I haven't been able to do any hand work so I've been crocheting blankets and knitting beanies for the homeless. I knit at least one beanie a day and have also made 2 blankets and have taken photos of some of them beofre posting them home. I'll give an update of my tally when I return home in a couple of weeks.

More Quilts In and Out

Three of these quilts were donated by members of AQA for the bush fire appeal and the others were made and donated by Warracknabeal quilters for East Timor.
I've also been making more QAYG blocks and this is the last QAYG quilt I managed to finish and donate.
I'm off traveling across Australia for the next few months so I'll check in again when I have time and internet access. I'm taking hand sewing and plnety of wool to knit hats, scarves and crochet blankets to donate when we return home.

Donated Tops Finished

I'm working my way through the donated tops which have been donated. The first onbe with "wonky stars" was made by quilters from Alice Springs. The second one was made by Kathleen A. from Vic. She made it as a backing to use up all her scraps but it looks so pretty that I used it as a top.
The last 2 tops were also donated but I'm sorry that I don't remember who sent them. I also finished off 2 other quilts of simple squares of fabric and they will go to Timor. I plan to get more finished off this week too as I want to give some to kids in foster care.
