A Selection of Quilts

Yesterday was very wet and cold so it was a lovely day for quilting and I put together a set of donated QAYG blocks as well as finishing off a top of string pieced blocks without batting. I then quilted the top and used fleecy fabric for the backing as the top was heavy enough without a batting. Kaite M. (NSW) this is the set you sent me from your donations of finished blocks
I also bound the remaining 3 quilts so I could send them off to their new homes. Lesley L. from Kyabram was very kind to meet me in the rain and hand over more wonderful donated tops as well as some finished quilts. She also took all the accumulated boxes to pass them on to a family member who will transport them to Needy Stitches in Melbourne for distribution.
Thanks too all of your generous donations more people will be warm this winter and our cold weather has already started here so I plan to get more quilts finished ASAP.
Stay warm everyone.
Hugs, Jan Mac

A Special Quilt

Yesterday I pieced these beautiful heart blocks to make a special quilt to donate. These heart blocks were made and donated by a lovely group of Dutch quilters who wanted to donate them to people affected by the devastating floods we had recently. I still have some more to make into quilts and they will be so welcome as many people still don't have permanent accommodation and will love the gift of a quilt.
I waited until I had enough batting to finish off some more donated blocks and tops and after piecing the top and the backing yesterday I quilted this top as well as 3 others. I still have the bindings to finish off on the other 3 but I'm off to paid work now so hopefully they'll be done tomorrow.
Many thanks, to all of you for your generous donations.

Donation Quilts

The first fabulous quilt was made and donated by Ulla from way over in Finland. I just love it and she also sent 3 bags to be donated. Ulla I can't believe that you were able to part with such a special quilt and I know it will be treasured by its new owner. I love your quilt and would love to have a "sew-in" together some day.
The next QAYG quilt was made from donated QAYG blocks and I know that someone will love a blue quilt. The last quilt was made from a donated top and will bring joy to a little girl. I think the top may have come from Lesley and her Kyabram quilting friends.
Thank you all so much for your ongoing support with the donation quilts.
Hugs, Jan Mac

Four Finishes

I finally got my quilting time back and managed to quilt 4 donated tops yesterday. This morning I bound three of them and put together a QAYG quilt. After such a productive but tiring morning I'm taking a break now and have switched to crocheting squares while I watch the football on TV.
I hope everyone is having a lovely sunny weekend too.
Hugs, Jan Mac
