Donated Quilts

More quilts arrived this week from Sharyn Caspar (Vic), Jean Fotheringham (NSW), Laurel Box (Vic), Pam Murray (NSW), Kelly Hamlyn- Harris (Vic), and Robyn MacPherson and quilters from Tumut and Queanbeyan (NSW). I also received tops from Lorna Wigham (NSW) and I'll show photos later.
I received QAYG blocks from Anne Bennett (Vic), Jenny Coble (Qld), Sharyn Caspar (Vic), Bronwyn Newell (Vic), Eaglemont Quilters (Vic), Patti Leal (USA), and Queanbeyan Quilters (NSW). Bindings came from Pam MacAskill (NSW) and Kerry Morpeth (Vic), and I also received a large box of soft toys from Viki Keen (Vic).
The knitters have been busy and I received hats or scarves from Louise Atkinson (Vic), Kaite Matilda (NSW), Virginia Leacy (Vic), Bev Dean (WA), Margie May (SA), and Quenbeyan Quilters (NSW). Thanks to all of you more people will be warm this winter.

More Finished Quilts

These are some more quilts I finished from donated tops and blocks. The first quilt was made from a set of donated QAYG blocks which I received at our SCQ Retreat at the end of April. The next one with pastels and lemon binding strips was made from a set of QAYG blocks made by Anne Bennett (Vic). The next 2 QAYG quilts were made from donated QAYG blocks from the US members of the Heartstrings group and the queen sized quilt was also made from those blocks as well as some from Australia. The next quilt was a donated top and backing from Kay Duncan (SA) and the last quilt was a donated top from Stephanie Driel (WA). They're not great photos but just to give you an idea of the quilts I've been distributing on your behalf. More quilts are waiting for bindings and then I'll post their photos.

Dear Jan & Ray,

On behalf of students, families, staff and the School Council at Kinglake Primary School, we would like to thank you for your work and organisation, kind thoughts and very generous donation of beautiful quilts.

Your donations were gratefully received by all of our families at a time when their need for practical help and comfort was greatest. The quilts provided both and also gave the lucky recipients colourful and creative gifts of love and concern.

As we do not know everyone who helped with this enormous project, would you please convey our thanks to all the wonderful quilters who made donations.

The kindness shown to our school community is appreciated very much and means more to our families than you could imagine. Knowing that others care about us is a great comfort at this very difficult time.

Finally time for another update on all the generous donations for the bush fire appeal.
I've received quilts from Bev Dean (WA), Sharyn Caspar (Vic), Louise Atkinson (Vic), Viki Keen (Vic), Betty Wickham (Vic), Louise Cullen (WA), Launceston Quilters (Tas), Leonie Gittens (Qld), Patchwork Additcion (NSW), Kath Maher (NZ), Dian Roberts 7 Twelve Friday Quilters (WA), and Kelly Hamlyn-Harris (Vic).
I received tops/ blocks from Noeleen Wells (WA), Sharyn Simpson (NZ), Tracey Leigh (SA), Kay Duncan (SA), Kay Pauling (USA), Anne Hubbard (Vic), Leonie Gittens (Qld), and Kaite Matilda (NSW).
I've had a wonderful response with the QAYG blocks again from Judy Hadley (USA), Wendy Carter (Vic), Anne Bennett (Vic), Jan Rhodes (Qld), Kaite Matilda (NSW), Ann Jones (France), Doris Moran (NSW), Kay Pauling (USA), Terry Patterson (NSW), Jenny Coble (Qld), Sharyn Caspar (Vic) and an incredible 900 blocks from the USA members of Heartstrings an online group.
I've also received fabric donations from Jenni Nicholas (Vic), and Jan Clark (NSW), as well as a lovely box of threads from anonymous.
The following people have also been very generous by sending knitted beanies /or scarves and/ rugs: Doris Moran (NSW), Terry Patterson (NSW), Kaite Matilda (NSW), Coralie Hayne (NSW), Margaret Rowe-Keys (Vic), Val Atkinson (Vic), Louise Atkinson (Vic), Anita Reece (NSW), Alexis Lawrence (Qld), and Virginia Leacy (Vic).
My friend at Kinglake is helping me to give out the hats and knitted items when we give out quilts and as the weather has been very cold there with snow last week, they are very happy with the hats and scarves too.
We wouldn't have been able to give out so many quilts so quickly without all the help from quilters around Australia as well as around the world. I'm still working on larger quilts of QAYG blocks set 6x8 for men as well as QS ones for couples.
It's been very heartwarming to see how much the quilts have meant to the bush fire survivors and they understand that it's a gift from the heart. Some have said that it's given them a positive outlook on the future now and that's been a true gift from all of us.
Also if anyone has time to make bindings, I use about 2 metres for the 6x8 quilts and 3.5 metres for QS ones and tone on tone or homespun is good for them.

Quilts from WA

These beautiful quilts were all made and donated by a small group in Western Australia- the Twelve Friday Quilters. Dian Roberts sent them over with her son and he posted them on to me. They will provide some lovely comfort and warm hugs for the bush fore affected areas.
We have given out many quilts and there is still a huge need. None of this would have been possible without the generous donations of quilts, tops, blocks and fabric.

Quilts I Finished this Week

The jade green QAYG blocks were made by Doris Moran from Dapto, NSW. I also put the other QAYG blocks together and the other two quilts were donated tops I finished off. The pile of quilts is getting high again and we'll be making another delivery soon.
