Quilts From Des Moines USA

These two beautiful and large quilts came to Australia with Linda Hungerford when she visited her new grandchild. Linda has been an ongoing supporter of our bushfire appeal and these beautiful quilts will cheer someone in the Kinglake area who lost their home.
The quilts were made by: Marna Billings, Joyce Burch, JoAnn Christians, Connie Cook, Debra Dickerson, Ann Gerdom, Norma Hamilton, Laurie Hews, Barb Hyler, Linda Hungerford, Deb Jacobs, Laura Kievlan, Linda Lack, Mary Nichols, Kim Ogle, Cathy Rudny, Lu Saf, Nancy Schroeder, Michelle Tepley, Sherry Von Fumetti, Shirley Winters, and Vivian Thatcher.
Linda was vising her family here in Australia at the time of the bush fires and also wrote an article which was published in the Oct/Nov issue of Quilters Newsletter magazine, about the bush fire appeal. We appreciate all the support from quilters both here in Australia as well as around the world. Although summer hasn't officially started here we have already had a week of extreme fire conditions, so please keep us in your prayers that this season isn't a repeat of the last one.
Hugs Jan Mac

  1. It was a pleasure for us to make these quilts that we pray will in some small way give comfort to people affected by February fires. Thank you for the opportunity to share in this beautiful effort. It's wonderful to know that we're all the same at heart, wherever we are in the world. Blessings. Linda

  2. Hi Jan and all. Just doing a bit of a catch-up with mail/blogs etc. and noticed the quilts from Des Moines. I was there (Johnston actually) in October. I was visiting my friend. Not at all surprised at those quilst. I saw some fabulous work (and shops) including the quilt shop in Adel and Fons & Porter in Winterset. Keep up the great work.

    Cheers.
